A 31-year-old Canupawakpa Dakota First Nation man has been arrested in connection to a recent homicide investigation that occurred in Virden, Manitoba.
On July 21, 2018, at approximately 1:15pm, Virden RCMP received a report of a male in medical distress at a residence located in Virden, Manitoba. When officers arrived, there were several people at the scene. Officers noticed the victim, a 31-year-old male from Virden, had injuries consistent with being in an altercation.
Police say that the victim was transported to hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The death is being treated as a homicide.
RCMP report that on July 24, 31-year-old Cassidy Eagle of Canupawakpa Dakota First Nation was arrested and charged with second degree murder. Eagle was remanded in custody.
Virden RCMP, RCMP Major Crime Services, and RCMP Forensic Identification Services are assisting with the ongoing investigation.
