RCMP are currently looking for two hunters that recently went missing on a hunting trip in the Grand Rapids, Manitoba area.
On September 24, 2018, at approximately 12:40am, Grand Rapids RCMP were advised of two overdue hunters in the Grand Rapids, Manitoba area. Police say that the two were part of a larger hunting party, but went out together on ATVs on September 23 at 3:30 pm. The group had been camping at Long Point on Lake Winnipeg, south of Grand Rapids.
RCMP report that the men, ages 60 and 73, are from Winnipeg. One of the ATVs has been located, but there are no signs yet of the two missing men. The two men are known to be experienced outdoorsmen.
RCMP Search and Rescue has deployed ground search teams. CFB Trenton has deployed a search plane.
Police noted that overnight weather in the area was 3 degrees Celsius with rain.
Update
RCMP report that the missing hunters been located deceased. RCMP searchers in a helicopter located the two missing hunters in the water of Lake Winnipeg, south of Grand Rapids. They were deceased. As this was a remote location, it required some time to get to the hunters and confirm identities. The men were located together and the deaths do not appear suspicious. The second ATV has not been located, but it is believed to be in the water.
