A 54-year-old man from The Pas is facing numerous charges after RCMP discovered drugs and cash in his car as a result of being pulled over for speeding.
On September 20, 2018, Lundar RCMP were conducting speed enforcement on Highway 6 near Deer Horn Line when they stopped a northbound vehicle going 132 km/h in a 100 km/h zone. As a result, an officer smelled marijuana from inside the vehicle and when asked about it, the driver produced a burnt marijuana joint.
Police say that the male driver was arrested for possession of a controlled substance under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. A subsequent search of the driver and the vehicle turned up a large amount of Canadian currency sealed in a plastic bag and just over 2,000 grams of vacuumed sealed marijuana.
RCMP report that 54-year-old Anthony Ross of The Pas was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. He was also charged for speeding and driving while disqualified under the Highway Traffic Act.
