Carberry RCMP are asking the public for any information into the whereabouts of two missing children who were recently taken by their mother, 29-year-old Jessica Chartier.
On September 28, 2018, Carberry RCMP received a request to assist the Brandon Police Service to check on the well-being of a 29-year-old woman and her two children. The two children were not returned to their father following a legal parental visit with their mother. The children were dropped off by their father at school on September 26, 2018, and were to spend the next two days with their mother. When their father attended the school to pick up the children on September 28, he was informed that his children were not there and had not been in school on September 27 or 28.
Officers have been actively searching for eight-year-old Melaina Chartier and six-year-old Colton Nordstrom, 6, both from Brandon.
Police say that the mother, 29-year-old Jessica Chartier is wanted on a Canada-Wide warrant of arrest for abduction. She is believed to be with the children and driving a grey 2016 Chrysler 200 with Manitoba licence plate GJX890.
Jessica Chartier is described as Caucasian, 5’7″ tall, weighs 150 pounds, has black or blonde hair and brown eyes.
Manitoba RCMP are now asking for public assistance in locating the two children. Colton is described as 3 to 3.5 feet tall, has blonde hair and was wearing dark-framed, round glasses. Melaina is described as 3.5 to 4 feet tall, and has dark shoulder-length hair.
RCMP report that Jessica and her children were last seen on the evening of October 1, 2018, in Virden, Manitoba.
