Cross Lake RCMP are currently investigating the attempted abduction of a nine-year-old girl that occurred in the Natamik area of Cross Lake, Manitoba.
On September 12, 2018, at approximately 9:50 pm, Cross Lake RCMP were notified of an attempted child abduction involving a nine-year-old girl. Police say that at approximately 8pm, the child was walking home after leaving a playground in the Natamik area of Cross Lake when she noticed a black pickup truck parked on the street with a male seated in the driver’s seat. As she walked by the truck, the male knocked on his window and offered the girl a chocolate bar. The male then took her by the arm and tried to pull her into his pickup truck. She was able to get away and ran to a nearby family member’s house for assistance.
A composite sketch has been made of the suspect. He is described as Indigenous and in his 50’s. The victim noted that the suspect had wrinkled skin, a large nose, dark black eyes and shoulder-length black hair. He was wearing a black sweater with no hood, jeans and shoes that were orange on the bottom. He also had a white discolouration on his hands and fingers.
The truck is described as an older black pickup truck.
