The Emergency Department at the Ste. Anne Hospital will have new hours as a result of the community experiencing a temporary physician shortage.
Southern Health announced the new hours in efforts to continue offering a service to the community during this time. The hour changes to the Emergency Department are effective as of Friday, October 19, 2018.
Until further notice, the Emergency Department will be open daily (7 days/week) from 8am to 8pm and will be closed daily from 8pm to 8am. For all emergencies, the public can call 911. Starting Friday October 19th, all ambulances will be redirected to other emergency departments until further notice.
Southern Health anticipates the partial closure and EMS redirection to be in effect for at least six weeks, after which the matter will be reassessed. These changes will not affect acute care or obstetrical services at the Ste. Anne Hospital. Primary Care Services continue to be available.
Efforts are underway to recruit new primary care physicians to support the primary care needs of the community.
