The Bethesda Foundation has announced the 2018 Gifts of Light program, giving the public an opportunity to give a message of hope and healing to those spending time in the hospital over the holidays, and for those visiting them.
“Having the hospital grounds lit up with thousands of colourful lights sends a wonderful message of hope and healing during the holidays,” said Linda Peters, Executive Director of the Bethesda Foundation. “The Little Red Trees are also back again, a gift of beauty for our community during this festive season.”
Peters noted that by sponsoring a tree today, your donation to Bethesda Foundation will contribute to projects that will continue to improve healthcare in our community. “Past projects include the CancerCare Centre, the Crisis Stabilization Unit and the Primary Care Centre,” stated Peters. “Without substantial community contributions, these improvements would not come to fruition.”
The program offers three ways to sponsor – $1000 for a large tree, $500 for a regular tree, and $100 for a Little Red Tree hung along Main Street and Highway 12. As a sponsor, your name, or your loved one’s name, is placed on a sign beside your tree. Larger sponsors will receive larger signs. A charitable donation receipt will be issued to you for the entire amount of your contribution to The Bethesda Foundation.
Peters invites all members the community to join the tree lighting on Sunday, December 2, from 4-6pm. The program will include entertainment, along with food and activities for the whole family.
