Selkirk RCMP are currently investigating two recent homicide incidents that occurred between November 10 and 16, 2018.
On November 10, 2018, at approximately 5am, Selkirk RCMP were dispatched to a call of an injured 30-year-old male. The male victim was transported to hospital however he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at 8am.
As a result of investigation, RCMP arrested 24-year-old Mitchell Brett Ritchot on November 14 in relation to the homicide. Ritchot was charged with manslaughter, unauthorized possession of a firearm and possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
On November 16, 2018, at approximately 9:15pm, Selkirk RCMP responded to a call of a 64-year-old male in cardiac arrest at a residence located in Selkirk. Officers attended and located the male who was pronounced deceased at the scene. The death is being treated as a homicide.
Selkirk RCMP along with the RCMP Major Crime Unit and Forensic Identification Services continue to investigate.
