On October 1, 2016, at approximately 4:45am, Headingley RCMP responded to a single-vehicle collision on the Trans-Canada Highway, just east of Gaol Road.

Police say that an eastbound car entered the south ditch and rolled. The driver and lone occupant of the vehicle, a 17-year-old girl from the RM of Cartier, was ejected from the car and was killed as a result.

RCMP report that alcohol does not appear to be a factor in this incident. It it believed that the seatbelt was not in use at the time of the collision.

A, RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
