A 37-year-old Moose Lake First Nation woman is facing manslaughter charges after being arrested by Moose Lake RCMP this past week.

On October 5, 2016, at 9:30pm, Moose Lake RCMP responded to a report of a disturbance. When officers arrived on scene, the investigation led to the discovery of an unresponsive 35-year-old male. The man was transported to the nursing station where he was later pronounced deceased.

As a result of police investigation, 37-year-old Edna McNabb of Moose Lake First Nation was arrested and charged with manslaughter. McNabb has also been charged with aggravated assault on a 29-year-old woman and assault with a weapon on a 26-year-old woman and a 17-year-old female youth during the same incident.

Police say that three of the victims are from Opaskwayak Cree Nation, Manitoba. The 17-year-old female is from Moose Lake and did not receive medical attention. The other victims were transported to the nursing station for treatment.

RCMP report that Edna McNabb remains in custody and that the investigation continues.
