On March 15, 2019, at 8:55am, RCMP Central Traffic Services responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of the Perimeter Highway and Waverley Street.
Officers have determined that a car, being driven by a 37-year-old Winnipeg man, was heading west on the Perimeter Highway when it collided into the rear of a westbound semi-truck and trailer. The semi was stopped on the Perimeter Highway at the Waverley Street traffic light when the collision occurred.
RCMP report that the 37-year-old driver, and lone occupant of the car, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The 34-year-old driver of the semi was not injured.
Police say that it does not appear as though the driver was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. Investigation will determine if speed and alcohol were factors.
RCMP Central Traffic Services, along with a Forensic Collision Reconstructionist, continue to investigate.
