A 17-year-old female youth was recently flown to Winnipeg via STARS, in critical condition, after falling off the back of a pickup truck in Blumenort, Manitoba.
On March 20, 2019 at approximately 6pm, Steinbach RCMP received a report of an accident that occurred in Blumenort, Manitoba.
Police say that officers attended the scene and discovered that a 17-year-female was in the back of a pickup truck sitting on an open tailgate with her 17-year-old friend. The pickup was being driven by the friend’s 49-year-old father. The occupants of the truck were in the process of exercising a dog, with the dog running along side the vehicle. The driver accelerated, causing the 17-year-old victim to fall out the back of the truck. The incident resulted in the youth suffering head injuries.
RCMP report that the victim was flown to Winnipeg via STARS, in critical condition. As of the morning of March 21, her condition is stable and injuries are now considered non life threatening.
Alcohol is not considered a factor in this incident.
