Four inmates from Stony Mountain Institution have been charged in connection to a homicide that occurred in August of 2018.
On August, 16, 2018, at approximately 8:15pm, Stonewall RCMP responded to a report of a serious assault on an inmate that occurred at Stony Mountain Institution. The inmate was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries. On August 18, 2018, 25-year-old Adam Kent Monias from Norway House, succumbed to his injuries.
On March 12 and 13, 2019, RCMP Major Crimes Services with the assistance of Stonewall RCMP and Correctional Service Canada arrested four inmates for second degree murder. The arrested inmates were 22–year-old Braiden Moneyas from Brandon, 21-year-old Kane Moar from Winnipeg, 24-year-old Raymond McDonald from Winnipeg and 25-year-old Michael Oksasikewiyin from Saskatoon, SK.
RCMP report that all four individuals have been charged.
RCMP officers from the Stonewall Detachment, along with RCMP Major Crime Services, continue to investigate.
