Premier Brian Pallister spoke on Thursday with North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum about the current state of spring flooding in the region, including in the Red River, Pembina River and Souris River watersheds, which are shared by Manitoba and North Dakota.

The premier and governor emphasized the long-standing, shared commitment of both jurisdictions to providing mutual assistance when needed, including through the Northern Emergency Management Assistance Compact, and will remain in contact as the flood season continues.

Pallister and Burgum also discussed other areas of shared concern including ongoing developments affecting international markets for agricultural producers and other sectors. In particular, the premier noted the serious concerns of Manitoba canola producers with recent restrictions on Canadian canola exports to China.
