On April 24, 2019, at approximately 7pm, Gillam RCMP responded to a plane crash near the Gillam Airport.
Police say that a MedEvac flight was en route from Winnipeg to Churchill when it attempted to make an emergency landing at the Gilliam airport. The Super King Air 200 aircraft landed on the frozen lake before coming to a stop at the edge of the runway.
RCMP report that there had been four people on board – two pilots and two flight paramedics. No injuries were reported, however all were taken to hospital as a precaution.
Police noted that the Transportation Safety Board was advised and that Gillam RCMP continue to investigate the incident.
