On October 19, 2016, at approximately 11:50am, Oakbank RCMP responded to a report of a home invasion in the RM of Springfield, Manitoba.
Police say that a male suspect kicked in the front door of a residence. While carrying a firearm, he demanded money from the resident and left with an undisclosed amount of cash. The firearm was not discharged and nobody was injured.
Investigators believe the suspect was familiar with the home and did not choose the residence at random. RCMP are appealing to the public because it is believed that a passing motorist may have noticed the getaway vehicle. Investigators are looking to speak with anyone who may have been cut-off or possibly noticed a vehicle traveling at high speed or driving erratically in the 25000 block of Dugald Road/Highway 15 between 11am and 12:30pm on October 19, 2016.
“We are asking anyone who may have been on or near the 25000 block of Dugald Rd/Highway 15 between 11:00 a.m and 12:30 p.m. and may have noticed something suspicious about a vehicle to call us,” said Tara Seel of the Manitoba RCMP. “Our investigators believe that someone saw the vehicle involved. No detail is too small. If you saw anything suspicious around that time frame, please call Oakbank RCMP at 204-444-3847.”
