A 55-year-old RM of North Cypress-Langford man has recently died after the vehicle he was driving was struck by a CN train.
On June 20, 2019, at approximately 10:35pm, officers from the Portage la Prairie RCMP responded to a collision between a vehicle and train that occurred on Road 69 North, eight kilometres northwest of Austin, in the RM of North Northfolk.
Police investigators have determined that a van, being driven by a 55-year-old male from the RM of North Cypress-Langford, was traveling north on Road 69 North. The van approached the rail crossing and was struck by an eastbound CN train.
RCMP report that the driver of the van was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Alcohol is not being considered a factor in this collision. Officers from the Portage la Prairie along with an RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist continue to assist CN Police Service in the investigation.
