An 18-year-old Dauphin man has been arrested and charged in connection to a recent armed robbery incident.
On June 24, 2019, at approximately 8:10pm, Dauphin RCMP responded to a report of an armed robbery at a business located on Main Street in Dauphin.
Police say that a lone male entered the store carrying a long barrelled gun and demanded money. The male suspect struck two employees with the gun, took cash and cigarettes, and then fled the scene on foot. The suspect then ran to a nearby apartment building and entered one of the units. Officers evacuated tenants from nearby apartments and contained the area while a negotiator made contact with the suspect.
RCMP report that on June 25, at approximately 1:35am, the suspect surrendered to police and was arrested. The suspect, an 18-year-old male from Dauphin, was put in police in custody with numerous charges pending.
Police noted that the employees sustained minor injuries during the robbery.
As a result of investigation, officers seized a sawed off shotgun, ammunition and recovered some of the stolen property.
