Dauphin RCMP are currently searching for 34-year-old Dustin Joseph Racette, a prisoner that recently escaped from the custody of Corrections Officers.
On August 14, 2019, at approximately 11:40pm, Dauphin RCMP received a report that a prisoner had just escaped from the custody of Manitoba Corrections Officers.
Police say that Dustin Racette, a 34-year-old male from Dauphin, assaulted and then ran from Corrections Officers as he was being treated at the Dauphin hospital. An immediate search of the area by Corrections and the RCMP failed to locate Racette. Police believe that he may have been picked up in a nearby waiting vehicle.
Dustin Racette is described as 5’9″ tall, weighs 210 pounds, has brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing grey sweat pants and a grey sweat shirt.
RCMP report that Racette has been charged with escaping lawful custody, assault with a weapon and assaulting a police officer with a weapon. A warrant for his arrest has been issued.
Police remind the public to not approach Racette as he may become violent.
