The Steinbach Arts Council is pleased to present an opening ceremony celebration for “Our Culture, Our Community” by Edmund Raguindin. The event is scheduled for November 9, 2016, at the Hall Gallery in the Steinbach Cultural Arts Centre.
Edmund Raguindin enjoys making art that captures his background and culture, which is reflected in his paintings. Edmund identifies his painting style as impressionism and semi-realism, as he also enjoys turning his own photography into paintings. In contrast, he is a huge fan of street art, such as the works of the Italian artist, Blu, who is famous for painting murals in places like Bolivia and Italy.
Edmund’s interest in drawing and painting was sparked by his older brother, who introduced him to the world of art at a very young age. He started off drawing robots and cars in his childhood, which lead him to pursuing a career that continuously motivated him to think creatively. When he is not painting, you can find Edmund working on his silk-screen printing business, Steinbach Cut & Print, that he recently started in the beginning of 2016. Before immigrating to Canada, Edmund managed a sign-making business for 13 years in the Philippines.
The public is invited to attend the opening reception on November 9. This exhibit will remain open to the public until January 16, 2017.
