Two men are dead after their vehicles collided with each other on the Trans-Canada Highway near MacGregor, Manitoba.
On October 28, 2016, at approximately 8:10pm, Portage la Prairie RCMP received a report of a pickup truck going at a high rate of speed in the wrong direction on the Trans-Canada Highway near MacGregor, Manitoba. Officers responded immediately to the report and traveled west along the highway to encounter the eastbound vehicle. Approximately one kilometre east of MacGregor, officers located the vehicle and found that the eastbound truck had collided with a westbound minivan.
Police say that the 63-year-old male driver of the truck and the 29-year-old male driver of the van, both from MacGregor and both lone occupants of the vehicles, were deceased at the scene of the accident.
RCMP report that both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the incident and that it is unknown at this time if alcohol was a factor in the collision.
An RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
