Manitoba Infrastructure’s Hydrologic Forecast Centre indicates the forecast rain over the weekend will result in between 15 and 20 millimetres of precipitation over the central, eastern and southern parts of the province including the United States portion of the Red River basin.
The system will add to the high water conditions in rivers and creeks in southern Manitoba and on the Whiteshell lakes. The high water advisory continues for all areas along the Whiteshell lakes and the south and southeastern areas of the province.
Localized overland flooding could occur within these areas as the soil is already saturated from above normal precipitation since early September.
Levels on the Red River and Roseau River will continue to rise. However, levels are forecast to remain within the banks at all locations along these rivers. The Red River Floodway operation is not expected at this point.
The Manitoba Hydrologic Forecast Centre will continue to monitor flows and levels as the rain system passes across the province.
Property owners are advised to take necessary precautions as a sudden rise on flows and levels could occur in these areas.
