The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba (IIU) is investigating a motor vehicle pursuit and collision yesterday near St. Francis Xavier in the rural municipality of Headingley, that resulted in injuries to two suspects.
The RCMP notified the IIU on November 14 of an incident that occurred around 10:28 a.m. that same day. Officers were dispatched to a service call and two suspects were seen fleeing in a vehicle. Police located and pursued the suspect vehicle. The driver of the suspect vehicle fled into a field where it struck an embankment and crashed.
Both occupants in the suspect vehicle, a 27-year-old male and a 19-year-old female, were conveyed to Health Sciences Centre. Both remain at hospital in stable condition.
As both these individuals were admitted to hospital, the IIU is mandated to investigate.
