A Selkirk man and Fox Lake Cree Nation woman were recently found deceased in what is believed to be a result of exposure.
On December 28, 2019, at approximately 11:40am, Selkirk RCMP received a report of an unresponsive male located on a trail in Selkirk Park. Officers attended the scene, along with EMS, and located a 52-year-old Selkirk man. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A short time later, at approximately 3pm, Gillam RCMP received a report of an unresponsive female located in an open area off of Butnau Road, near the baseball diamonds in Gillam. Police say that in this incident a 48-year-old Fox Lake Cree Nation woman was located and pronounced deceased at the scene.
RCMP report that no criminality is suspected in either of these deaths, though the investigations remain ongoing.
