A 21-year-old Selkirk, Manitoba man is facing numerous charges after he attempted to flee police from a recent traffic stop.
On January 24, 2020, at approximately 2:45am, Selkirk RCMP initiated a traffic stop with a vehicle that had no front or rear licence plates. The vehicle failed to stop and fled from the officers.
Police say that after fleeing the scene, the vehicle lost control and struck a snowbank at the intersection of Colcleugh Avenue and Eveline Street. At this point, the suspect was taken into custody where it was discovered that he had three outstanding warrants for arrest.
RCMP report that 21-year-old Tyler Friesen of Selkirk is facing charges of flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and driving while disqualified. Friesen is also charged with driving an unregistered vehicle under the Highway Traffic Act.
