An 81-year-old woman from La Broquerie has died as the result of a recent vehicle collision on Highway 52.
On February 16, 2020, at approximately 6:30pm, Steinbach RCMP responded to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 52, just east of Steinbach.
Initial police investigation determined that an SUV, traveling west on Highway 52, was attempting to pass another vehicle when it collided head-on with a car traveling east.
Police say that the driver of the car, a 78-year-old La Broquerie man, was taken to hospital in critical condition. His passenger, an 81-year-old woman from La Broquerie, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the SUV, a 29-year-old Steinbach man, was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Police noted that charges are pending.
Steinbach RCMP, along with a Forensic Collision Reconstructionist, continue to investigate this incident.
