A 29-year-old armed man, suspected of threatening violence in West St. Paul, was recently arrested by police after fleeing the scene.
At approximately 12:45pm on March 2, 2020, RCMP received a call of an armed man that was distraught at a residence in West St. Paul. The call indicated that the man was threatening violence and had just fled in a vehicle.
Police responded immediately and the suspect vehicle was located near the Perimeter Highway and Pipeline Road. Officers attempted to pull over the suspect but he refused to stop and a pursuit was initiated. During the pursuit, the vehicle came to a stop near King Edward Avenue, however, the suspect continued in his vehicle at which time an RCMP officer discharged his firearm, striking the vehicle.
Officers continued the pursuit and the vehicle eventually came to a stop. At this point, the suspect was safely taken into custody with no injuries reported. Police noted that firearms and ammunition were located in the vehicle.
RCMP report that charges against the 29-year-old male suspect are pending.
