A 53-year-old Marchand man has died resulting from a recent ATV collision that occurred in the RM of Reynolds.
On March 23, 2020, at 9am, Steinbach RCMP received information from the Chief Medical Examiners Office in regards to a fatal off road vehicle collision that took place on March 21 in the RM of Reynolds.
Steinbach RCMP confirmed that they had not received such a report and initiated an investigation.
Officers believe that on March 21, 2020, at approximately 6pm, a 53-year-old male driver and 46-year-old female passenger, both from Marchand, were operating a side by side ATV on Trail 19 in the Marchand area. The ATV suddenly swerved off the trail and came to a stop.
Conditions on the trail at the time were reported to be rough due to the melting conditions.
RCMP report that the male driver suffered a serious life-threatening injury after being struck by a large branch. Other riders in their group stopped to assist and called 911.
STARS Air Ambulance attended the scene and transported the 53-year-old male to hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
Steinbach RCMP, along with the Chief Medical Examiners Office, continue to investigate this incident.
