On July 30, 2020, at approximately 12:15pm, Steinbach RCMP responded to a bomb threat at the Steinbach Court Office located on Reimer Avenue.
Police say that an anonymous caller contacted 911 and stated that there was a bomb in the washroom inside the Steinbach Court Office. Immediately, numerous RCMP officers attended and evacuated the building and surrounding areas with the assistance of Manitoba Sheriffs. A number of emergency services, including Steinbach Fire Department, were also at the scene assisting with the incident.
RCMP report that a suspicious device was located inside the men’s washroom, resulting in the RCMP Explosives Disposal Unit(EDU) being deployed. Police Dog ServicesĀ arrived on scene and conducted a search for any other suspicious packages with negative results.
EDU attended and neutralized the device, rendering it safe. Upon further inspection it was determined to be a hoax device.
Steinbach RCMP along with the Major Crime Unit and Forensic Identification Services continue to investigate this incident.
