The Independent Investigation Unit (IIU) is investigating an allegation of assault by an off-duty RCMP officer in the west district.
On August 31, 2020, the RCMP notified the IIU of a complaint received August 30 concerning an alleged assault on a minor by an off-duty officer on August 18. Although there were no serious injuries, the IIU civilian director has determined it is in the public interest for the agency to investigate.
The investigation is ongoing.
The IIU investigates all serious incidents involving police officers in Manitoba, whether occurring on or off duty.
