After many months of delay, Niverville native and professional race car driver David Richert, is set to compete at this upcoming weekend’s Ultimate Cup Series race in France.
Richert will drive Inter Europol Competition’s Formula Renault 2.0 race car at Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours, a race track that previously played host to Formula 1’s French Grand Prix.
“I am looking forwarding to getting back into a quick race car and driving at the historic circuit of Magny-Cours which will be a challenge as there are many high-speed corners,” said Richert. “A huge thank you to Image Plus Laser Eye Centre and Sigurdson Financial for helping to make all of this happen. I also need to say a huge thank you to all of my investors who gave me a chance to chase a dream and everyone else who has supported me in many various ways.”
Having signed a contract earlier this year with Inter Europol Competition, a Polish owned racing team fresh off of completing last weekend’s famous 24 Hours of Le Mans, Richert was just a few days away from starting the season until COVID-19 interrupted all plans. The easing of international restrictions has paved the way for competition to resume once again.
Racing action will kick off this Friday, September 25, 2020, with the first practice session of the weekend.
