On December 20, 2016, at approximately 5:45pm, St. Pierre-Jolys RCMP received a report of a snowmobile collision in the RM of Tache, Manitoba.
Police say that a 21-year-old male left a residence in Ile des Chenes on December 19, 2016 and rode his snowmobile towards his home in the RM of Tache at approximately 10:30pm. When he did not return to his home, family members went to look for him.
RCMP report that the male was located on December 20 in the west ditch on Provincial Road 207, near the intersection of Prairie Grove Road in the RM of Tache. He was pronounced deceased on scene.
The deceased was wearing a helmet at the time of the incident and it was reported to have been extremely cold with low visibility and heavy blowing snow on the evening of December 19.
RCMP believe that weather conditions and speed may be contributing factors in this fatality.
