Week two of the RCMP Holiday Checkstop Program, from December 13, to December 19, 2016, has resulted in numerous charges.
- 2680 vehicles were checked across Manitoba during 52 Checkstops
- 22 people were charged with either Impaired Driving (Alcohol) or Drive Over .08
- 3 people were charged with Impaired Driving by Drugs
- 5 people were charged with Refusing a Breath Demand
- 15 alcohol or drug-related administrative roadside suspensions
- The highest blood/alcohol reading reported was 240 mgs% (0.240) – more than three times the legal limit – three separate individuals had readings this high
Other Stats from week two of the 2016/2017 program include:
- 773 other traffic-related provincial statute (Highway Traffic Act) charges laid
- 12 Liquor & Gaming Control Act (LGCA) offences
- 12 other Criminal Code driving offences, including a number of prohibited drivers
- 5 Controlled Drug and Substances Act (CDSA) offences
There was one traffic-related fatality during the past week in Split Lake.
Last year during week two, there were no traffic-related fatalities. RCMP members conducted 57 checkstops – checking 2747 vehicles resulting in 22 people being charged with Criminal Code Impaired Driving offences.
