A 49-year-old RM of Gimli man is facing impaired driving charges after an RCMP officer found him seriously injured inside an overturned car in a ditch at a location on Highway 8.
On October 31, 2020, at approximately 12:55am, a Gimli RCMP officer was patrolling on Highway 8 near Siglavik Road in the RM of Gimli, when he noticed an overturned vehicle in the ditch. The officer stopped and approached the vehicle and noticed that an injured man was trapped inside the vehicle. The officer immediately called for emergency services and the Fire Department to assist.
RCMP report that the man was extracted from the vehicle and taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Police say that at this time it is believed that the driver, a 49-year-old RM of Gimli man, was traveling north on Highway 8 when he lost control of his vehicle, entered the ditch and rolled.
Further investigation led officers to arrest the man for impaired operation of a motor vehicle.
