A new online dashboard is being launched today at manitoba.ca to provide timely information to Manitobans about the immunization campaign. It is updated daily and includes doses received and administered, percentage of Manitobans aged 18 or older who are fully vaccinated, a projection on the number of immunizations planned over the next 28 days and immunization statistics based on age, sex and region of residence.
To date, 20,265 doses of vaccine have been administered including 18,120 first doses and 2,145 second doses.
At this time, focused immunization teams are providing immunizations at personal care homes across the province. A total of 51 personal care homes across the province will be visited by focused immunization teams this week. Ten sites were visited last week. Data about personal care home immunizations is not available in real-time, but the most recent information indicates 1,067 residents have been immunized.
It is expected that all personal care home residents will receive their first vaccine doses by the end of January, which is ahead of the schedule initially developed by the province. Due to the province’s strong plans, every consenting resident in Manitoba personal care homes will be eligible to receive their second dose as well.
The vaccine super site at the Keystone Centre in Brandon opened on Jan. 18 and has administered 563 doses of vaccine.
To date, nearly 1,100 people have been hired to assist with Manitoba’s vaccination efforts at the sites in Winnipeg and Brandon. This includes immunizers, clinic managers, clinical leads, system navigators and observers. This is in addition to 690 staff who have been assigned to COVID-19 immunization efforts from regional health authorities, bringing the total of new hires and existing staff to 1,783. As more vaccine arrives in Manitoba, additional staff will be hired to expand services.
The average wait time for Manitobans eligible to make an appointment was just over 14 minutes.
All available appointments at the RBC Convention Centre super site in Winnipeg are booked. Appointments remain available at the Keystone Centre super site in Brandon.
The eligibility criteria for the COVID-19 vaccine are regularly updated. For current information, visit gov.mb.ca.
Individuals who have already booked an appointment for the Winnipeg super site are encouraged to keep their appointment at this time. However, individuals can shift their appointment to the Keystone Centre in Brandon if necessary, by calling the same confidential booking number used to make the original appointment.
Manitoba does not expect to receive any vaccine shipments in the week of Jan. 25, as a result of a further delay in the Pfizer vaccine.
Manitoba will do everything possible to ensure all booked first and second-dose appointments are kept. Based on our current projections, Manitoba will use all of our available Pfizer vaccine by Feb. 7 if unless additional shipments by the federal government are made. The province will continue to closely monitor the vaccine shipment schedule and any updates provided by the federal government very closely to keep Manitobans updated.
To date, a total of 46,290 doses of vaccine has been delivered to Manitoba. This includes:
- 31,590 doses of Pfizer vaccine, based on six doses per vial; and
- 14,700 doses of the Moderna vaccine, of which 5,300 doses have been allocated to First Nations communities.
Delivery schedules are set by the federal government. Manitoba is notified of the delivery amount for each week, but is not advised of which day the vaccine will arrive.
This means Manitoba will always have some level of inventory to ensure enough vaccine is available for the appointments booked to date, or unexpected delays related to weather or other issues. This process ensures there is enough stock to administer first and second doses as planned without the need to cancel any appointments.
For the week of Jan. 18, the lowest level of super-site inventory is expected to be approximately 6,873 doses. A graph posted at manitoba.ca outlines the expected levels of inventory for the coming weeks.
All data in this bulletin is current as of Jan. 19. More information about the vaccine campaign in Manitoba is available at manitoba.ca.
