As the result of an ongoing investigation, Steinbach RCMP have arrested two individuals after seizing a large quantity of cannabis during a recent search of a residence located in the Rural Municipality of Tache.
On March 11, 2021, as a result of an ongoing investigation, Steinbach RCMP executed a search warrant under the Cannabis Act at a residence located in the RM of Tache. Involved in the investigation was the Steinbach General Investigative Section (GIS) with assistance from the East District Crime Reduction Enforcement Support Team (CREST).
Police say that the search of the property yielded approximately 500 cannabis plants in various stages of production, as well as over 84 kilograms of dried cannabis.
RCMP report that two Winnipeg men, ages of 34 and 32, were arrested on scene and later released for a court appearance scheduled for May in Steinbach. The arrested individuals are facing charges of possessing illicit cannabis, possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling, cultivating cannabis plants and cultivating more than four cannabis plants.
