Manitoba reached an immunization milestone over the weekend, with more than 10 per cent of Manitobans aged 18 and older now having received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Appointments and Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility to be immunized at a super site or pop-up clinic is being expanded today to include individuals aged 64 or older and First Nation people aged 44 or older. Anyone who has been in Manitoba for one month or more can receive the vaccine at no cost if they meet provincial eligibility requirements.

Appointments are currently available at super sites in Winnipeg, Brandon, Thompson, Selkirk and Morden. Pop-up sites and appointments have opened up in many communities and are now taking appointments. Eligible individuals can book their appointment at a super site online at protectmb.ca with an email address and their health card number. Appointments for super sites or pop-ups can also be made by calling (toll-free) 1-844-626-8222 (1-844-MAN-VACC).

Last week, a total of 53,809 vaccine appointments were made at super sites and pop-up clinics including 35,411 by phone and 18,398 online.

When attending a vaccine appointment, people are reminded to bring their completed consent form (available online at protectmb.ca), wear a short-sleeved shirt, wear a mask and bring their health card or other form of identification. To help support good physical distancing on site, people should arrive no more than 15 minutes before their scheduled appointment time.

Vaccine Administration

To date, 173,548 doses of vaccine have been administered including 118,605 first doses and 54,943 second doses. This data includes vaccine administered at medical clinics and pharmacies, though there may be a slight delay in reporting from some of these locations.

This week, Focused Immunization Teams (FITs) will visit more than 100 congregate living facilities located throughout the province, providing first-dose immunizations. FITS have administered over 11,100 doses to people living in these locations.

Vaccine Supply and Distribution

To date, a total of 248,180 doses of vaccine have been delivered to Manitoba. This includes:

  • 168,480 doses of Pfizer vaccine;
  • 61,700 doses of the Moderna vaccine; and
  • 18,000 doses of the AstraZeneca/Covishield vaccine.

Every dose of vaccine in Manitoba has either been:

  • administered to a person at an appointment;
  • allocated for immunizations with our partners, including First Nations or the distributed model with medical clinics and pharmacies; or
  • booked for an appointment expected to take place within the next eight days.

This week, Manitoba expects to receive 40,950 doses of Pfizer vaccine, 28,300 doses of Moderna and 54,600 doses of AstraZeneca/Covishield.

Manitoba’s daily maximum capacity measures the number of doses the province could give every day, if vaccine supply was not an issue. Currently, daily maximum capacity is 20,918 doses per day, which exceeds the province’s initial target of reaching 20,000 doses per day by April.
