Loose change is no longer required on your next visit to Steinbach City Hall as the circa 1976 parking meters, located on the north side of the building, have now been removed.
The City says that new “One-hour Parking” signs will be installed in place of the meters.
City officials say that parts for the approximately 45-year-old fixtures are no longer available and their removal hopefully encourages everyone to use the front, more accessible doors of City Hall located off of Reimer Avenue.
The City noted that a copy of the original brochure advertising the meters was located, dating back to when they were first purchased.
