The City of Steinbach has announced that from Monday, July 19 to Wednesday, August 4, Reimer Avenue will be closed to both east and west bound traffic off Brandt Street to accommodate a water line project.

City officials ask motorists to use McKenzie Avenue and Lumber Avenue as alternate routes during construction. Local traffic will be permitted on Reimer Avenue between Third and Fourth Street and on Fourth Street from Reimer Avenue to Lumber Avenue. Motorists are asked to reduce speed, follow all signs, and use caution in this area.

Officials noted that access to businesses at the Brandt and Reimer intersection will be available throughout the closure. Sidewalks in the area will remain open, or temporary detours will be put in place.

Thy City says that the closures are necessary to install a new water line as part of the Brandt Street underground renewal project. The capital project is part of the City’s 2021 budget at an estimated cost of $2.7 million.
