On August 7, 2021, at approximately 6:40pm, Falcon Lake RCMP responded to a report of a possible drowning at a location on West Hawk Lake.
Police were advised that two Winnipeg men, ages of 52 and 51, had jumped off a pontoon into the lake and immediately began having difficulty in the water. Life jackets were thrown to both men but the 52-year-old was not able to reach it in time and was seen going under water without resurfacing.
Falcon Lake RCMP, with assistance from Manitoba Conservation and the local Fire Department, searched the water in the area, but were unable to locate the victim. The Hutterian Emergency Aquatic Response Team (HEART) attended and conducted an underwater search.
RCMP report that at approximately 4:20am on the morning of August 8, the body of the 52-year-old was recovered from the water.
RCMP continue to investigate this incident.
