Ste. Rose du Lac RCMP have made four arrests in connection to a recent armed robbery that occurred at a business located in the Rural Municipality of Alonsa, Manitoba.
On August 9, 2021, at approximately 2:50pm, Ste. Rose du Lac RCMP received a report of an armed robbery at a business located on Highway 50 in the RM of Alonsa.
Initial investigation determined that three male suspects, wearing masks, pulled up to the business, got out with firearms and pointed them at the employees. They then stole an undisclosed amount of money and cigarettes. The suspects then left in the same vehicle.
Police say that none of the employees at the business were physically injured as a result of this incident.
Amaranth and Neepawa RCMP, as well as Manitoba First Nations Police Service (MFNP), were notified of the suspect vehicle, which was later found in Gaa-wiikwedaawangaag (Sandy Bay Ojibway First Nation). MFNP, along with the police force of jurisdiction in Gaa-wiikwedaawangaag, conducted a traffic stop on a van in the community. One of the suspects from the robbery was visible in the van, as was a firearm. All four occupants of the vehicle, three males along with the female driver, were arrested as a result. The female suspect has since been released without charge.
RCMP report that all male suspects remain in custody on charges of robbery with a firearm as well as various other firearm related offences.
