The current five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 2.4 per cent provincially and 1.5 per cent in Winnipeg. As of 9:30am on September 2, 2021, 127 new cases of the virus have been identified since Monday: 34 cases on Tuesday, Aug. 31; 57 cases on Wednesday, Sept. 1 and 36 cases today. Fifteen cases have been removed due to data correction bringing the total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba to 58,793.
Public health officials advise three new deaths in people with COVID-19 are being reported today:
- a male in his 70s from the Winnipeg health region;
- a male in his 70s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the delta (B.1.617.2) variant of concern; and
- a male in his 80s from the Prairie Mountain Health region, linked to an unspecified variant of concern.
There were 36 new cases identified in Manitoba today. Of these, 24 are in individuals who were not fully vaccinated. This includes:
- two new cases with one not fully vaccinated, in the Interlake-Eastern health region;
- nine new cases, with eight not fully vaccinated, in the Northern health region;
- three new cases, with two not fully vaccinated, in the Prairie Mountain Health region;
- seven new cases, with four not fully vaccinated, in the Southern Health-Santé Sud health region; and
- 15 new cases, with nine not fully vaccinated, in the Winnipeg health region.
Today’s data also shows:
- 430 active cases and 57,171 individuals who have recovered from COVID-19;
- 70 Manitobans hospitalized with COVID-19 including 27 people with active COVID-19 as well as 43 people who are no longer infectious;
- a total of 15 Manitoba patients receiving intensive care for COVID-19, including three people in intensive care units with active COVID-19 as well as 12 people who are no longer infectious but continue to require critical care;
- 2,420 laboratory tests were completed yesterday, bringing the total number of lab tests completed since early February 2020 to 929,868 and
- the total number of deaths in people with COVID-19 is 1,192.
Manitoba is winding down the operation of the COVID-19 testing site at the Winnipeg Richardson International Airport at the end of day on Friday, Sept. 3, 2021. COVID-19 testing for domestic travellers is provided in multiple locations across Manitoba, and sites can be found at manitoba.ca.
