A 62-year-old Beausejour man has been arrested for impaired driving in connection to a recent fatal collision that occurred in the Rural Municipality of St. Clements, Manitoba.
On October 11, 2021, at 7:15pm, officers from the Selkirk RCMP received a report of a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 44 and Provincial Road 206 in the RM of St. Clements.
Investigators have determined that a vehicle traveling north on PR 206, driven by an 87-year-old Selkirk woman, had stopped at the intersection of Highway 44 and proceeded onto the Highway when she was struck by an eastbound pickup truck. The driver of the truck was a 62-year-old male from Beausejour.
Police say that the 87-year-old woman was pronounced deceased on scene.
RCMP report that the 62-year-old Beausejour man was placed under arrest for impaired driving causing death. He was transported to hospital for minor injuries sustained in the collision and has since been released from hospital and from custody with a future court appearance scheduled in Selkirk.
Selkirk RCMP, along with a Forensic Collision Reconstructionist and a Criminal Collision Investigation Team, continue to investigate this incident.
