Over the next few weeks, Steinbach residents living in single-family dwellings will see a recycling bin arrive on their door step. The bins, which are being provided and delivered at no cost, are part of the Recycle Everywhere program by the Canadian Beverage Container Recycling Association.

City officials say that the program’s purpose is to promote beverage container recycling wherever they are consumed. The blue, seven gallon bins are lightweight and compact, allowing them to fit in a variety of places in your home and making it convenient to recycle items. Their size also allows for easy transport to the curb or transferring contents to a larger curbside pick-up bin.

A total of 6,500 bins will be delivered. The deliveries will take place weekdays, between 8am and 4pm,by people wearing “Recycle Everywhere” branded clothing and lanyards. Delivery personnel will not knock on doors or ring doorbells, but rather just leave the bins on door steps. An information card will also be included with useful information about items that are recyclable and those that are not.

Bin deliveries are expected to take place over the next few weeks until all bins have been distributed. The City notes that bins will only be delivered to houses, townhouses and side by side homes in Steinbach. Multi-family houses are not eligible for the program.

The City would like to thank Recycle Everywhere (CBCRA) for providing bins to the community. More information about this project is available at recycleeverywhere.ca.
