Portage la Prairie RCMP have seized a quantity of firearms and ammunition after responding to a recent report of shots fired at a social gathering west of Portage la Prairie.
On October 31, 2021, at 1:09am, Portage la Prairie RCMP received a report that someone had just fired a gun at a location in Bagot, Manitoba, approximately 25 kilometres west of Portage. Portage and Amaranth RCMP officers responded to the call immediately.
Initial police investigation determined that a male suspect fired a handgun after leaving a social gathering in the community. Police noted that there were no injuries as a result of the incident.
RCMP report that a 34-year old male suspect from Bagot was arrested without incident.
Police say that the suspect’s residence was searched and as a result, numerous rifles, shotguns, handguns, as well as ammunition and prohibited magazines, were seized.
The male suspect is facing several charges related to the use, possession and storage of firearms. He was released to appear in court at a later date.
