West Interlake RCMP are currently investigating a recent vehicle collision which claimed the life of a 31-year-old Ebb and Flow First Nation woman. The incident occurred west of Ashern, Manitoba.
On November 6, 2021, at approximately 7am, West Interlake RCMP received a report of a fatal motor vehicle collision on Provincial Road 325 West, approximately 16 kilometres west of Ashern, in the RM of West Interlake.
Initial police investigation determined that the vehicle went onto the shoulder of the road, struck an entrance driveway to a field, causing the vehicle to flip several times.
Police say that all four occupants of the vehicle were ejected and none were wearing seatbelts at the time of the incident.
RCMP report that the 31-year-old female driver of the vehicle, from Ebb and Flow First Nation, was pronounced deceased on the scene. The 33-year-old male front seat passenger, from Pinaymootang First Nation, along with two male children in the rear seat, ages six and two, were all transported to Winnipeg hospital. They remain in hospital in stable condition.
Investigation into this incident continues with the assistance of an RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist.
