Today’s five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 5.4 per cent provincially and 2.9 per cent in Winnipeg. As of 9:30am on November 18, 2021, 440 new cases of the virus have been identified since Monday: 99 cases on Tuesday, Nov. 16; 162 cases on Wednesday, Nov. 17 and 179 cases today. This includes:

  • Interlake-Eastern health region – 27
  • Northern health region – 50
  • Prairie Mountain Health region – 69
  • Southern Health-Santé Sud health region – 167
  • Winnipeg health region – 127

Nineteen cases have been removed due to data correction. The total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba is 66,184.

There were 179 new cases identified in Manitoba today. Of these, 102 are in individuals who were not fully vaccinated. This includes:

  • Interlake-Eastern health region – seven (five not fully vaccinated)
  • Northern health region – 32 (13 not fully vaccinated)
  • Prairie Mountain Health region – 28 (19 not fully vaccinated)
  • Southern Health-Santé Sud health region – 69 (51 not fully vaccinated)
  • Winnipeg health region – 43 (14 not fully vaccinated)

Public health officials advise eight new deaths in people with COVID-19 are being reported today:

  • a female in her 90s from Prairie Mountain Health region linked to an unspecified variant of concern and the outbreak at the Benito Personal Care Home (reported Tuesday);
  • a male in his 60s from Southern Health-Santé Sud (reported Wednesday);a male in his 70s from Prairie Mountain Health (reported Wednesday);
  • a male in his 30s from the Winnipeg health region (reported Thursday);
  • a female in her 70s from the Winnipeg health region (reported Thursday);
  • a male in his 70s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the Delta variant of concern (reported Thursday);
  • a female in her 80s from the Southern Health-Santé Sud health region, linked to the outbreak at Third Crossing Manor (reported Thursday); and
  • a male in his 80s from the Southern Health-Santé Sud health region, linked to the outbreak at Third Crossing Manor (reported Thursday).

Today’s data also shows:

  • 1,404 active cases and 63,499 individuals who have recovered from COVID-19;
  • 157 Manitobans hospitalized with COVID-19, including 111 people with active COVID-19 as well as 46 people who are no longer infectious;
  • a total of 30 Manitoba patients receiving intensive care for COVID-19, including 24 people in intensive care units with active COVID-19 as well as six people who are no longer infectious but continue to require critical care;
  • 3,682 laboratory tests were completed yesterday, bringing the total number of lab tests completed since early February 2020 to 1,141,753; and
  • the total number of deaths in people with COVID-19 is 1,281.

Outbreaks have been declared at:

  • Amber Meadow Retirement Home in Winnipeg; and
  • Arborg Personal Care Home in Arborg.

The facilities have been moved to Critical (Red) level on the Pandemic Response System.

Outbreaks have been declared at:

  • New Era School, grade 4/5, in Brandon; and
  • École Sacré-Coeur, grade 2, in Winnipeg.

The classes have been moved to remote learning and the schools moved to the Restricted (Orange) level on the Pandemic Response System.

The outbreaks are declared over at:

  • Westdale School, grade 6;
  • HSC GD2 surgery unit;
  • École Lacerte School, kindergarten;
  • Ralph Maybank School, grade 3/4 only; and
  • Edmund Partridge School, grade 6.

The Manitoba government is also providing an update on ongoing enforcement efforts to protect Manitobans from the spread of COVID-19. A total of 38 warnings and nine tickets were issued for the week of Nov. 8 to 14, including:

  • six $1,296 tickets to individuals;
  • two $298 tickets to individuals for failure to wear a mask in an indoor public place; and
  • one $5,000 ticket to a business.
