Starting Thursday, September 15, the City of Steinbach’s Waterworks Department will be busy reading water meters in Steinbach. These readings will provide the basis for the quarterly utility bills issued in November.
Meter readings are conducted by Waterworks Department employees and takes approximately 12 hours to complete. City employees can be identified by their safety vests and the City of Steinbach identification cards that they carry. The readings are not invasive, unless the read-out is not working, in which case City employees will request entry into the house.
The City’s wireless meter reading system allows staff to receive readings from the sidewalk, eliminating the need for access to private properties and also reducing reading times.
