Manitoba Natural Resources and Northern Development are reporting that conservation officers, through a variety of enforcement activities, have made numerous arrests for illegal activities during the months of October and November, 2022.
Manitoba Natural Resources and Northern Development advises conservation officers are continuing enforcement to protect natural resources through a variety of activities across the province.
On Oct. 29, conservation officers from the Brandon compliance area, along with officers from the Dauphin compliance area and the K-9 unit, conducted an aircraft-assisted night hunting patrol.
In the early morning hours of Oct. 30, officers observed a truck in the Rural Municipality (RM) of Alonsa using a spotlight and LED light bar to illuminate fields. Officers stopped the vehicle and arrested three individuals who received appearance notices for night hunting. The vehicle and a firearm were seized.
Later that morning, officers observed a slow-moving vehicle in the RM of Glenella-Lansdowne using spotlights to illuminate fields. Four individuals were arrested and given appearance notices for night hunting. The vehicle, four spotlights, two rifles, and live and spent rifle cartridges were seized.
On Oct. 31, conservation officers from the Swan River area conducted an aircraft-assisted night hunting patrol.
In the early morning hours of Nov. 1, officers observed a truck in the RM of Minitonas-Bowsman using spotlights to illuminate fields. Four individuals were arrested and given appearance notices for night hunting. The vehicle, four firearms, five lights and a calf moose were seized.
