Selkirk and the Red River North RCMP are reporting that two individuals have been arrested and charged in connection to a number of property crimes that occurred in the Lockport, St. Andrews and West St. Paul areas.
RCMP recently received several calls in relation to property crime, with all reports involving the same two suspects.
Police say that one report was of two suspects attempting to break into a business in Lockport. They were scared off by people in the area and fled.
A second report was of a damaged stolen truck that was located on River Road, in the RM of West St. Paul. In this incident, a truck and a side by side had been stolen from a residence nearby.
A third report was regarding a theft in the area where a male suspect, driving a side by side, stopped at a property and began going through a vehicle. The 65-year-old male homeowner confronted the suspect and subsequently sustained minor injuries when the suspect struck him with the quad while fleeing.
Officers later located an abandoned side by side on Highway 9, and soon after received a report regarding two suspicious people nearby. Information led officers to locate the female suspect and a stolen vehicle. The woman was arrested without incident.
Police contained the area and a call from the public about a suspicious male led officers to locate the male suspect who was riding a stolen bicycle. He was arrested without incident.
“Thank you to all the people who called in and reported these two individuals,” said Inspector Sheldon Hollingworth, Detachment Commander of Selkirk and the Red River North RCMP. “The information we received from the public was crucial and led us to locate and arrest these suspects.”
RCMP report that a 30-year-old female from RM of Macdonald, along with a 32-year-old Winnipeg man, are facing numerous charges related to these crimes.
